Usage Terms

Welcome to Plately! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Plately mobile application (the "Service"), operated by Mistilteinn. By creating an account or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and the Apple App Store End User License Agreement (EULA).
01. Description of Service
Plately is an AI-powered culinary assistant. The Service provides users with features including, but not limited to, personalized recipe generation, nutritional analysis of meals from user-uploaded images, and recipe creation from a list of user-provided ingredients ("Lazy Cook").
02. Health and Nutrition Disclaimer
All nutritional information, recipes, health scores, and dietary guidance provided by Plately are generated by an AI model and are intended for informational purposes only.
- The Service is not a medical device and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a qualified healthcare provider.
- Always seek the advice of your physician or another qualified health professional with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition or before making dietary changes.
- You are solely responsible for ensuring that any food you prepare or consume is safe, suitable for your dietary needs, and free of allergens. Never disregard professional medical advice because of information you have seen in the Plately app.
03. User Accounts
To access the core features of Plately, you must register for an account using Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In. You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account and for safeguarding your account's access.
04. Subscriptions and Free Trials
Plately operates on a freemium model. Core features—Recipe Creation, Food Analysis, and Lazy Cook—are available on a limited trial basis. Unlimited access to all features requires an active, paid subscription plan ("Plately Pro").
- FREE TRIALS Each premium feature comes with a set number of free uses. Your remaining trials for each feature are displayed within the app. Once your trials are depleted for a specific feature, you will need to subscribe to continue using it.
- BILLING All subscriptions are managed and billed by Apple through the App Store. Payments are subject to Apple's terms and conditions.
- AUTO-RENEWAL Subscriptions automatically renew unless you turn off auto-renewal in your App Store account settings at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period.
- CANCELLATIONS You may cancel a subscription at any time through your App Store account settings. The cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing cycle.
05. User Content
You may provide content to the Service, including images for analysis and text inputs for recipe generation ("User Content"). You retain all ownership rights to your User Content. You grant Mistilteinn a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, process, and transmit your User Content solely for the purpose of operating, providing, and improving the Service. This includes sending your content to third-party AI service providers for processing. Images submitted for food analysis are deleted immediately after the analysis is complete and the results are delivered to you. We do not store your images on our servers.
06. Prohibited Activities
You agree not to use the Service for any illegal purpose, to reverse-engineer the app, or to engage in any activity that disrupts the service for others.
07. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mistilteinn and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of the Service or your reliance on any information provided by it.
08. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Application Provider is established, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
09. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the app after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
